If I could, I would...

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would travel to Greece.

If I could have done anything before I fell in love with Steven, I would have been a stewardess.

If I could teach anybody anything, I would teach them how to fully express themselves through art.

If I could decorate any room in my house any way I wanted, I would have lots of art, wood, white, and spashes of color.

If I could make you feel anything in the world, I would want to make you feel like you were enough, that you are where at what you are meant to be, and that's enough.

If I could tell you one thing about my life, I would tell you that I has of right now I don't really have a game plan, and that's super scary to me.

If I could change anything in or about my life, I wouldn't

I hope you have just the right kind of weekend you need.
Happy friday!

Thoughtful Thursday- Brave on the Rocks

It's definitely one of those days where I could just burst into tears at the drop of a hat. This morning I've already:

1. Had a terrible dream involving snakes (second night in a row, weird)
2. Didn't have time to finish fixing my hair to my liking
3. Had to help push Steven's truck back into the driveway because the clutch went out.
4. Been intimidated by the amount of papers on my desk and my lack of motivation.
5. Worried about money for the truck, or a new car, or whatever.
6. Been terribly bored because they blocked pinterest on my work computer.... So.Sad.
7. And we're out of milk....

Ugh.

I'm just so thankful that it's almost Friday, we have money in savings for things like this, I still have access to my blogs at work, my boss has meetings all morning, and I have people here who I can talk to when I need to get away from my desk (which seems to be often).

On a brighter note, since I've spent a lot of time with my mom lately I've really been able to get some stuff off my heart. She really is the absolute best listener. Don't get me wrong, Steven listens to all my rants and raves wholeheartedly and tries his very, very best to console me and I don't know what I would do without him to talk to, but there's just something about talking to another female and knowing that she "gets it" even when it's absolutely ridiculous.

I've figured out a lot about where I want my life to go within the next year and how to make it a reality (more on that down the road, you should be excited!), I've figured out a lot about how much of my life I share with certain people and what I need to do to not feel so hurt by others. This sounds so immature, but I can honestly say that since "hiding" some people from my facebook and them not being in my face all the time I've actually had a pretty good week! I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything too important, because hopefully, if it was super important that I know about... I would get a phone call. But if I don't then that's that.

I'm going to be brave with my life. I know that God won't call me to anything He won't help me through. I feel like I know what I need to do, I just hope I have the guts to work hard enough to make it as successful as it can be. Not for me, but for the plans God has for this adventure. I've been asking myself  lately, "Why isn't that my path?" or "Why don't I get to do X and B with my life?" Then I thought.... "Well, have I ASKED what my path is or what I need to be doing?" Nope. Absolutely not... Then I did, and guess what! It worked, funny huh? Crazy what asking will get you. But like I said, more on that later.

If you've never read anything By Sabrina or even heard of her I HIGHLY suggest you check her out! I know the metropolitan Library has 3 of her books. Everything about her is just so raw and honest. I became obsessed with her in high school when I first found her. Now, whenever I need a little extra inspiration or "realness" I crack open one of her books. Maybe I'll get one this weekend, but that would mean I'd have to pay my library fine....

fall out of line
allow the way it goes
telling the truth is like exposing
the underside of our wings - we see
that part only when we fly."

Thoughtful Thursday

I found this friendly little note on pinterest a few weeks ago and it has been ringing in my head loud and clear ever since. This is something I struggle with A LOT. Especially lately since my life is in a different phase than most of the people I know. I'm not in school anymore , I have a husband, and a full time job that I have to go to every. single. day. Whether I want to or not. I have a list of personal goals from here to Egypt and I still have to iron and do dishes and buy groceries. Trying to compare my life to my friends' lives who are still in college or to some awesome blogger wife who has 3 kids, stays at home, and owns her own art shop takes a lot of energy and fogs up my view of my wonderful life. I start thinking, "Well, they get to do things why can't I?" or " She seems to be able to do it all why do I feel stuck?" Now don't get me wrong, these questions aren't pity party questions by any means. These questions just get me fired up and leave me more frustrated than anything.

Then...one day... it hit me! I'm not doing what everyone else is doing because that's not my path in life. Duh! Why did I ever think that God would write everyone the same story? Very few things would get accomplished if that were the case. I have a specific role in life and I am on the track that I, Lea Stone, need to be on to fit this role. Glorious! Once I really understood this it was like the weight just fell off my shoulders.

I think we just get so caught up in everyone else's story that we forgot that we have one of our own. Sure, I don't get to stay out late on weeknights any more and decide to skip class the next day and have pizza rolls for breakfast. But I do get to come home every night to a husband who loves spending time with me even if we are just eating dinner and watching t.v. and wake up every morning with my best friend. These are things I'm sure people would kill for. Lucky me!

***

I want this blog to be a positive, up beat, inspiring place, but I also want it to be real. I want everyone to know that things get nasty sometimes, but that just gives us an opportunity to experience life and ourselves more deeply and to possibly help someone out down the road with our experiences. I hope you are completely, over the top, excited to be living out YOUR story! Because you should be!

Thoughtful Thursday

“We all pretend for a while or for a lifetime. But pretending is not living...I believe that God meant for life to take our breath away, sometimes because of the sheer joy of it all and sometimes because of the severe pain. To choose living over pretending means that we will know both.”
-Angela Thomas

I want to be done living in this pretend world that I've made up for myself. Just sitting around thinking about my perfect life hasn't proved to be very productive.

I sometimes look through blogs or  read magazine articles and think, "Yeah, that's what I want my life to look like." But then go about my day as usual. The people I admire didn't get to where they are by just hoping and dreaming. They accomplished things by actually getting up and making it happen. By actually practicing and experimenting and making mistakes. By taking the good with the bad and making the most out of the real life situation they're in now.

Now, I know this can be a terribly scary thought. But...
If we try to live our lives like a movie then we are going to miss out on a lot of real things that could be very important to how our real lives are going to turn out.

We can't compare our behind the scenes to somebody else's highlights. We just can't. We have to do what's best for ourselves and what's best for the dreams we have.

So...

I hope that once you realize what your dreams are, what your passion is that you actually go out and do it!

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."

Thoughtful Thursday

Note: I'm only getting this personal and deep because I don't want anyone to feel like they are ever the only one going through any stage of life. We should all be in this life together, encouraging each other and trying to find the silver lining.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Sometimes about specific people in my life, sometimes just about types of people in my life. I know the types of people I'm done trying to fit in with, I know the types of people I want to surround my life with, I just don't know how to make a smooth transition between the two. Or if that's even a possibility

I'm not gunna lie... I know it's going to hurt, and I know I'm scared. It's something that I have been avoiding for a long, long time now.

Sometimes the truth hurts, but it's still the truth, it's still fact. We still have to deal with reality whether we want to or not. Sure we can hide in our cocoons, our little shells we make our "home,"  but sooner or later we're going to have to come out and see what the world really has to offer us.

I don't know where this may put me in life, I don't know how bad or long it'll hurt, I just know that I will get through it, I will be happier, and I will be more of who I'm supposed to be. I know that the people who mean the most to me and truley care about me is who I will spend my time and energy on. I'm done spending my energy on everyone else, or trying to prove who knows what to someone who isn't even listening. I'm just so thankful that I get to spend all my saturday nights with my very best friend and I know he'll always pick me.

We're all in different seasons of life. One isn't more right or wrong than the other... they're just different. We fall in and out of relationships, we have different hopes and plans for ourselves. The hard part is knowing when to fight and when to let go.

Good luck to you on your journey through whatever season you're in. If it's awesome, soak it up! If it's not, don't worry. You'll get through it if you decide to, the good thing about seasons is that they change.

Happy Thursday!!

Thoughtful thursdays!

These are probably by far my favorite days!

FACT.

I know I'm going through a bleh time right now. Everything is just stagnant. Nothing is pushing us towards any goals, no one is telling us what the next thing is and honestly, it's kind of terrifying. We could literally be in this same exact house and job in 20 years. Completely different from the fast paced 18hr semesters we just left. Always striving to complete projects and plan for the next semester. There's just nothing to mark off the list right now. Graduate...check, jobs.....check, house....check, marriage....check! And all of this happened in approximately 3 months! So we're just trying to get used to our new routines and find time to enjoy each other and friends. Things are way different than they used to be but that doean't mean their bad, just different.

But no matter what I know that we are going to be ok, that everything is going to be ok because we won't settle for it being any other way. We won't settle for the only life we have to be mediocre, we will totally rock this.

everything is going to be ok.

Thoughtful Thursday

Yes, yes I will.

As aweful, or boring, or mentally unchallenging (which I never new could be so exauhsting!), or hectic, or unsatisfying, or just plain poopy this day (or yesterday, or tomorrow) may be, I WILL be grateful for any and all opportunities I may have had to be with people I like, make money at a job a ton of people would love to have, and hope for a day when I can be and do what I love and craft my little heart out.

Thoughtful Thursday

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Just wondering where my heart is, wondering what my dreams are. I know I want to accomplish great things... but what exactly? I have sooooooo many things on my "to do" list that I think I need to do that I forget about the things I know I have to in order to make my life what I want it to be.

I wonder about how many people are barely missing the mark, who are just on the brink of finding their niche, finding that place where they feel completely satisfied and fulfilled. I need to find my niche.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that "things" aren't what it's all about, that having stuff doesn't make your life full...just cluttered. I decided to write some of my dreams down, ( novel idea, right? ) just to remind myself that there is a purpose to my life. But there's just something about seeing them written out that make them more real, more attainable.

DREAMS:
  • Build a house on top of our hill
  • Sell my art and crafts
  • Own a shop/studio
  • have babies
  • Have a job where I can be with my kids and family whenever they need me
  • Travel with Steven
  • Plan parties/weddings
  • Make more clothing
  • Teach (not neccessarily in a public school setting, but that would work too)
These are just a few of mine, I didn't want to get TOO deep at 9:30 in the morning, haha.

What are some of your dreams? Some things that you know you have to do with your life?

Happy Dreaming,
Love-Lea
